Waldorf University All-State Piano & Vocal Clinic: Live & Virtual Options in Real Time

This event is a one of a kind All-State Piano and Vocal Clinic on the Waldorf University campus. The Clinic is designed as a follow-up event to the initial All-State Vocal Workshops held around the state each August following the announcement of the Iowa All-State Vocal Selections. We understand your reservations related to the current state we live in, therefore we have designed, and tested, a virtual option for attendees to participate in real-time. More details will be provided as the event approaches.

Unique to this clinic is its focus on piano accompaniment skills for those pianists that will be auditioning as an All-State Accompanist. Experience the music in real-time with a choir of voices. Vocalists alike will experience the music with an exceptional accompanist in rehearsal. The morning will explore the technical side of the music through sectionals and group work, tackling the barriers with sound strategies and allowing the students to build on the musicality that will be sure to set them apart on audition day.

Vocal Clinicians include:

  • Joel Everist, Director of Choral Activities at Mason City High School & Choir Director for Waldorf University will lead the Vocal Master Ensemble in rehearsals. All Master rehearsals will be accompanied by Rachel Everist.
Piano Clinicians include:
  • Jackie Burk, former Iowa All-State Choir Chair & Adjunct Professor in Choral Education at Waldorf University will lead the Piano Accompanist.
  • Melissa Phillips, Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Waldorf University & Private Piano Instructor within the community will provide pedagogy on collaborative pianism.

It doesn’t stop there! Students attending the clinic are also offered the opportunity to extend the coaching with Waldorf faculty, Jackie Burk, up until auditions.
