  • Waldorf University Introduces English as a Second Language Endorsement

    Waldorf University will now offer the English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement as an option to Education students. The university was notified by the Iowa Department of Education on Oct. 5 that they had been approved to begin offering the ESL endorsement to students as one of several endorsements available within the Bachelor of Science in Education curriculum.


  • Boman Fine Arts Center to Host Official Grand Opening

    The Boman Fine Arts Center, located at 225 John K. Hanson Drive Forest City, Iowa, will host a grand opening on Monday Oct. 15. Invitation only events will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 6:30 p.m. when the center will open to the public. A program of events is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. followed by public tours from 8-9 p.m. Media will have the opportunity to speak with organization committee members from 5:15-6:15 p.m.

    Waldorf University to host poet Gabriel Gudding on Sept. 24. The event is a part of the Distinguished Visiting Authors Series sponsored by the Waldorf University English Department. The reading is free and open to the public from 7-8 p.m. in the Salveson Ballroom located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, IA.

  • Waldorf University’s Biology Dept. Making Strides in University of Iowa FUTURE in Biomedicine Program

    This past summer, Waldorf University biology sophomore Jennet Hojanazarova, and Dr. Carol Fischer, biology faculty, participated in the Fostering Undergraduate Talent – Uniting Research and Education in Biomedicine (FUTURE) in Biomedicine Program at the University of Iowa where they spent the summer researching cleft lip/palate in the lab of Dr. Robert Cornell, a professor in Anatomy and Cellular Biology. Hojanazarova and Dr. Fischer spent two months working side by side at the laboratory bench. As members of the Cornell lab, they also participated in the lab’s weekly journal club, including taking their “turn” presenting their research and current state of knowledge in the field. Near the end of July, they each presented the results of their research to other program participants at the FUTURE in Biomedicine Research Symposium. Hojanazarova also presented a poster at the University-wide Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium along with about 160 other students from other University of Iowa departments.

    Waldorf University's Bachelor of Arts, Occupational Safety has been reviewed by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and approved as a Graduate Safety Practitioner® (GSP®) Qualifying Academic Program (QAP), providing the program's graduates the option to apply with BCSP for the GSP designation after graduation.
