HLS 3040: Maritime, Border, and Transportation Security

Description

Examines the critical issues of maritime, border, and transportation security as well as the challenges that each present in a post-9/11 world. Analyzes programs that are designed to detect, deter, respond, and recover from disruptions caused by manmade and natural disasters.

Objectives

  1. Discuss the issues of maritime, border, and transportation security and the challenges they pose.
  2. Describe the threat the United States faces within the maritime, border, and transportation security sectors.
  3. Discuss the criticality of aviation security in a post-9/11 world.
  4. Describe the emerging trend of piracy and terrorism.
  5. Examine the challenges and threats presented by illegal immigration in the United States.
  6. Analyze the role of the U.S. government as it relates to maritime, border, and transportation security, including counter-terrorism security measures currently utilized.
