HLS 3010: Homeland Security and Cyberthreats

Description

This course introduces students to a myriad of emerging cybersecurity threats in both public and private sectors and their impacts on homeland security.

Objectives

  1. Identify types of cybercrime threats (cybercrime, cyberattacks, and cyberwarfare).
  2. Explain the relevance of cyberthreats in the homeland security construct.
  3. Explain the importance of strengthening the security and resilience of cyberspace as it relates to the homeland security mission.
  4. Identify cyberthreats to critical infrastructure.
  5. Evaluate the various strategies and programs used by cyber incident response stakeholders.
  6. Evaluate cybersecurity research and development projects.
  7. Explain the importance of privacy in the development of cybersecurity and related homeland security efforts.
