ART 1020: Art Appreciation II

Description

Provides a firm foundation and/or continuation of art appreciation covering the Renaissance to Modern Art, focusing on the comprehension of stylistic and theoretical concepts.

Objectives

  1. Analyze and discuss works of art in their historic and stylistic contexts.
  2. Identify artistic styles and major works of specific artists.
  3. Synthesize cultural context of works of art and architecture created in respective historical periods.
  4. Develop an art vocabulary.
  5. Comprehend the developments of Western art and architecture from the Renaissance to modern day.
  6. Articulate the ideas and analyze major characteristics of period styles through the identification of specific works within artistic movements and historical periods.
