Orientation - Arrival and Move-In

The University is excited to welcome you to campus in August as we kick off another academic year.

Summer housing ends for students on Friday, July 18. Students residing on campus for fall 2021, will transition into their fall housing assignment in late July.

Arrival to Campus: Students arriving to campus are to move directly into their residence hall on their assigned date and should call the Residence Life on-call phone 30 minutes prior to their arrival to campus (641-590-4318.) Calling ahead will ensure your check-in process to your room with our staff is organized and smooth.

Virtual Office Check-In Form: Upon arrival our virtual office check in form is required to be completed each year by all new and returning students regardless if they live on campus or commute to campus. The university will provide each student with this form which is an office “to do” list prior to arriving on campus. We encourage students to complete this process before they arrive to campus through the QR codes, emails and phone calls to different offices for verification (QR codes provided on virtual check-in sheet). This advanced effort will reduce waiting lines, and your time as you prepare for the academic year. Those students not able to complete the office check-in process in advance will have the opportunity to do so upon arrival to their residence hall. Offices will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for assistance. Please be advised that offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Commuter Student Check In: Commuter students will also be sent a virtual check-in form to complete before classes begin. Since commuter students do not need to check-in to a residence hall, we ask that commuters check in to the Campus Center (CIC) desk for their required packet and verification of their arrival and registration confirming you are a student in the fall. Check-in may occur 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday beginning August 5.

Things to Know

Plan Ahead- We encourage students and families to plan ahead. On campus housing is not guaranteed if the housing form and $125 housing deposit are not completed and paid/sent in before students are assigned and arrive to campus. Housing assignments are sent out mid-July all the way up to mid-August (for those late housing applications). New students to Waldorf that are eligible for off-campus housing and who are not able to secure off-campus housing are recommended to live on campus for one semester in the fall to acclimate to campus and the community.

Travel and Accommodations- It is important that students arrive on their scheduled day so that Waldorf is prepared for their arrival. Students and families must arrive on their scheduled check-in day. Unscheduled early arrivals will be expected to make arrangements at local lodging establishments as dorm rooms are being deep cleaned, painted or are occupied by summer guests and are unavailable. We recommend the Forest City Inn (641.585.1448) or Cobblestone Inn & Suites (641.585.3000) for reasonably priced lodging in Forest City for anyone who must arrive to town earlier than their check-in arrival date. If you are arriving late to campus after your scheduled arrival date, please contact the Office of Student Life to make arrangements (reslife@waldorf.edu or 641.585.8160).

Transportation to Campus- Students should arrange to fly into the Mason City Airport (Sky West/United). Mason City is only 35 minutes from campus. Students can book flights directly into Mason City  on United.com, Orbitz.com or other travel sites. To request a ride from the following location, you must reserve your ride request at least 72-hours in advanced. Check out Mason City Municipal Airport, Jefferson/Greyhound Bus Terminal in Mason City, for more information or visit our transportation page.

Move-In Time- Move-in times for each arrival day is 9 a.m.-4 p.m.. It is highly recommended that students and families arrive early between 9-11 a.m. on the day of their assigned arrival day. This allows sufficient time for students to complete the check-in process, to move into their assigned residence hall and visit any offices as needed.

Meal Plans- Meals will begin the evening of the scheduled office check-in and arrival day. Students will use their student ID to access the meal plan program in the main dining hall or Warrior Crossing (Atrium). Student ID’s and picture will be taken in the Campus Center on check-in days for students who have not yet received their ID.

$125 Housing Deposit-One Time Fee (Required only if not previously submitted)
Required for all residents in housing-due prior to move-in date. Contact the Business Office Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to make arrangements.

Year Long Parking Permit
All students are welcome to purchase a vehicle parking permit on campus as a commuter or residential on campus student. $50-August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022
