Orientation - Arrival and Move-In

The University is excited to welcome you to campus in August as we kick off another academic year. Waldorf University has modified and changed most of our normal arrival, move-in and check-in dates, times, information and processes to make sure students, family members and employees can arrive and start their college experience safely. Here are some important COVID campus updates concerning the start of the year. Please read this information carefully.

W.O.A.R. Registration (Warrior Orientation & Registration Day) for First Year and Transfer Students is being held virtually this year. Register online for W.O.A.R. here.

Summer housing ends for students on Friday, July 17.  Check-outs are required by 11 a.m. Students residing on campus for fall 2020, will transition into their fall housing assignment in late July.

The office check-in process is required by all new and returning students regardless if they live on campus or commute to campus. The university will provide each student with an office check-in “to do” list prior to arriving on campus via mail or email. We encourage students to complete this process before they arrive to campus through emails and phone calls to different offices for verification. This advanced effort will reduce waiting lines, your time and any social distancing concerns upon arrival. Those students not able to complete the office check-in process in advance will have the opportunity to do so upon arrival in the Atrium. Please be advised that offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Things to Know

Plan Ahead- We encourage students and families to plan ahead. On campus housing is not guaranteed if the housing form and $125 housing deposit are not completed and paid/sent in before students are assigned and arrive to campus.  Returning students staying in summer housing (May-July) and not living on campus during the fall, will be required to check out of their rooms by Friday, July 17, 2020. New students to Waldorf that are eligible for off-campus housing and who are not able to secure off-campus housing are recommended to live on campus for one semester in the fall.

Travel and Accommodations- It is important that students arrive on their scheduled day so that Waldorf is prepared for their arrival. Students who arrive on a "long distance fly-in day" (6 hours or more from campus) must report directly to your residence hall to move in between 1-8 p.m. The office check-in process is required of all students and will completed the next day. Students who must arrive earlier than the assigned days must submit an early arrival request form to the Office of Student Life. Early arrivals are charged $25/day for this convenience. That form can be found on the Waldorf University website under Residence Life. Students who have been approved for early arrival may arrive Monday-Friday only between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All students who arrive before their scheduled arrival date must be approved and confirmed 72 hours in advance through Student Life (studentlife@waldorf.edu or 641.585.8160.) Unscheduled arrivals will be expected to make arrangements at local lodging establishments as dorm rooms are being deep cleaned, painted or are occupied by summer guests and are unavailable.

Early Arrival- Due to COVID-19 precautions, students and families will need to arrive on the dates assigned for your group. We recommend the Forest City Inn (641.585.1448) for reasonably priced lodging in Forest City for anyone who must arrive to town earlier than their check-in arrival date.

Transportation to Campus- Students should arrange to fly into the Mason City Airport (Air Choice One) from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport as the price is reasonable and Mason City is only 35 minutes from campus. To request a ride from the following locations (72-hours advanced notice and purchased ride pass required): Mason City Municipal Airport, Jefferson Bus Terminal in Mason City, Iowa or Greyhound. Please visit our transportation page.

Move-In and Office Check-In Day- All new and returning students will complete an office check-in "registration" process when they arrive to campus before classes begin (check-in required of all full-time on campus or commuter students). All office check-ins begin in the Atrium. Please see the above schedule for arrival and check-in dates and times. In addition, students residing on campus will need to move into their assigned residence hall after checking in at the office stations. It is highly recommended that students and families arrive early between 9-10 a.m. on the day of their assigned arrival day. This allows sufficient time for students to complete the check-in process with offices and move into their assigned residence hall.

Meal Plans- Meals will begin the evening of the scheduled office check-in and arrival day. Students arriving on a fly-in day or before this date must plan ahead as they are responsible for their own meals. Warrior Crossing (located in the Atrium) will be open (cash only) for grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for all students and families on each arrival day.

Summer Student Housing (Limited for current students only)
Breen Hall Double Room-$205 per month per student (includes all utilities, cable, internet & garbage). No meal plan available.

Summer Housing Dates (Returning students only)-May 11 to July 17, 2020

$125 Housing Deposit-One Time Fee (Required only if not previously submitted)
Required for all residents in housing-due prior to move-in date. Contact the Business Office Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to make arrangements.

Summer Room Changes
