Orientation - Arrival and Move-In

Family Orientation Day for First Year and Transfer Students will be Friday, July 13 between 8:30am-3 p.m. Register for Summer Family Orientation here.

Summer housing ends for students on Friday, July 20.  Check-outs are required by 11 a.m. 
Optional early arrival “fly-in” days are reserved for long distance students travelling 6+ hours away from campus. Long distance students arriving to campus on a fly-in day should report directly to their assigned residence hall between the hours of 12-8 p.m.  Please see early camp and student arrival schedule below.
The office check-in process is required by all new and returning students regardless if they live on campus or commute to campus. All office check-ins will begin in the Salveson Lobby except for the August 6 and 7 check-in days. Please be advised that offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Please see early camp and student arrival schedule below.

Things to Know About

Plan Ahead- We encourage students and families to plan ahead. Housing is not guaranteed if housing forms and the $125 housing deposit are not completed and paid/sent in before students are assigned and arrive.  Returning students staying in summer housing (May-July) and not living on campus during the fall, will be required to check out of their rooms by Friday, July 20, 2018. New students to Waldorf that are eligible for off-campus housing and who are not able to secure off-campus housing are recommended to live on campus for one semester in the fall.

Travel and Accommodations- It is important that students arrive on their scheduled day so that Waldorf is prepared for their arrival. Students who arrive on a "long distance fly-in day" (6 hours or more from campus) must report directly to your residence hall to move in between noon-8 p.m. The office check-in process is required of all students and will completed the next day. Students who must arrive earlier than the assigned days must submit an early arrival request form to the Office of Student Life. Early arrivals are charged $25/day for this convenience. That the form can be found on the Waldorf University website under Residence Life. Students who have been approved for early arrival may arrive Monday-Friday only between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All students who arrive before their scheduled arrival date must be approved and confirmed 72 hours in advance through Student Life ( or 641.585.8160.) Unscheduled arrivals will be expected to make arrangements at local lodging establishments.

Early Arrival- Special request early arrivals will not be allowed to check into the residence halls before August 6, 2018 as there will be limited staffing and deep cleaning of rooms occurring from departed summer camps during this time. We recommend the Super 8 (641.585.1300) or The Lodge (641.585.5060) for reasonably priced lodging in Forest City for anyone who must arrive to town earlier than their check-in date.  

Transportation to Campus- We encourage students to consider flying into the Mason City Airport from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport as the price is reasonable and Mason City is only 35 minutes from campus. To request a ride from the following locations (72-hours advanced notice and purchased ride pass required): Mason City Municipal Airport, Jefferson Bus Terminal in Mason City, Iowa or the Jefferson bus stop at the Pilot Travel Center in Clear Lake, Iowa, please visit our transportation page.

Move-In and Check-In Day- All new and returning students will complete an office check-in "registration" process when they arrive to campus in the fall (check-in required of all full-time on campus or commuter students). Office check-in will take place and begin in Salveson Lobby. Please see the above schedule for the times and dates of your scheduled arrival and check-in day. In addition, students residing on campus will need to move into their assigned residence hall after checking in at the office stations in Salveson. It is highly recommended that students and families arrive early between 9-10 a.m. on the day of their assigned arrival day. This allows sufficient time for students to complete the check-in process with offices and move into your assigned residence hall. Students who arrive on a "long distance fly-in day" should report directly to your residence hall between noon and 8 p.m. to move in and complete office check-in the following day.

Meal Plans- Meals will begin for students beginning the evening of their assigned arrival check-in date. Students arriving on a fly-in day or before this date must plan ahead as they are responsible for their own meals. Warrior Crossing (located in the Atrium) will be open (cash only) for grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for all students and families on each arrival day.

Summer Student Housing (Limited for current students only)
Breen Hall Double Room-$190 per month per student (includes all utilities, cable, internet & garbage). No meal plan available.

Summer Housing Dates (Returning students only)-May 8 to July 28
No new summer housing check-ins after June 1 due to the summer guest conference season and deep cleaning/maintenance in the residence halls to prep for all August arrivals.

$125 Housing Deposit-One Time Fee (Required only if not previously submitted)
Required for all residents in housing-due prior to move-in date. Contact the Business Office Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to make arrangements.

Summer Room Changes
Immediately after May graduation, campus students will stay in their spring room until their Breen summer room is cleaned and available. Summer residents in campus housing registered for fall 2018 housing will be transitioned from Breen Hall to their permanent room at the end of July.

$25-May 8, 2017 to July 31, 2017 (exception: current residents who have already purchased a permit for the 2016-17 year)
