Victoria Simkins, M.M., M.A.

Currently, Victoria is teaching at West Fork Community School District in Rockwell and Sheffield, Iowa as the director of bands. Last year she was the director of elementary and middle school choral activities at West Fork. In addition, she started a ukulele program, a show choir, co-conducted a musical, and teaches voice, piano, saxophone, trumpet, and ukulele privately. She recently hosted a Saxophone Masterclass as a part of an Instrumental Masterclass Series at Waldorf University.
Victoria has a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. There she studied saxophone from Dr. Otis Murphy and conducting from Dr. Eric Smedley. While there, Victoria performed with the Symphonic Band, Mangata Saxophone Quartet, in many chamber groups, and in duos. In addition, Victoria was a class-side aide to the band and orchestra director at Bloomington High School South. There, she coached woodwinds, brass, and percussion in small groups, individual lessons, large groups, and full band rehearsals. Victoria also taught beginning saxophone and woodwinds in the area’s beginning band program, Star Band.
Victoria Simkins began studying music at Truman State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Music Education. She studied saxophone with Dr. Randall Smith and Dr. José Zayas-Cabán, performed with the Wind Symphony for two years while there, took piano lessons and piano performance classes from Dr. David McKamie, and volunteered at the Kirksville High School during marching band season. She performed in multiple saxophone quartets, including the Auftakt Four, which performed a quartet tour as an outreach program at area schools in Kansas City, St. Louis, southern Missouri, Des Moines, and southeastern Iowa. Victoria student taught with Dr. Craig Miller of the Park Hill School District in northern Kansas City. During her time at Truman State University, Victoria taught saxophone privately to a studio established in Kirksville and in Kansas City.
