As a senior at California State University Northridge, Valerie began working in Dr. Steven B Oppenheimer's laboratory investigating the molecular basis of cell-cell interactions in cancer. To continue her research she entered into the graduate program with Dr. Oppenheimer as her mentor. For more than 20 years Valerie has worked as a biological clinical research professional. In her research she has technical skills in Molecular Biology, Pathology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with family in Montana. They enjoy snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and family barbecues.
