Sarah began her career at Birmingham Southern College, later transferring to the University of Alabama to concentrate on her studies in Education. She earned an Education Specialist Degree, Reading Specialist Certification, Administrative Certification and National Board Certification in Early Literacy while on campus in Tuscaloosa, Ala. After teaching in the classroom with grades K-5, she served as a Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach with the Alabama Reading Initiative. Her career veered into school leadership when she accepted a position as Assistant Principal and Program Specialist with Dothan City Schools.
Sarah was hired with the State Department Intervention Team's effort to turn around a failing district school system, and later with the Department of School Improvement with the Alabama State Department of Education. To continue as a lifelong learner, she enrolled in an online program with North Central University to complete a Doctoral Program in Instructional Leadership.
Throughout her career, Sarah has resided in small rural towns and has been employed in schools to support student achievement. She is dedicated to empowering teachers to reach their fullest potential sharing evidenced-based instructional practices from the classroom. Sarah joined the Education Department at Waldorf the Fall of 2020.
