Ryan has been involved in theatre for over 30 years, both as an actor and as a director. His primary interests are in Theatre History and Pop Culture. In December of 2017, he finished his Ph.D. at Texas Tech University where his dissertation focused on depictions of the Devil in American popular culture since 1980. He has taught theatre classes in a multitude of areas from acting to theatre history to theatre appreciation. Besides acting/directing, he has also designed several shows in all areas of technical theatre–lighting, sets, costumes and props. His favorite playwrights to direct are Steve Martin and Sam Shepard. In his free time, he enjoys reading, directing, acting and playing with his three children.
