Dr. Benesh has always been interested in the coordination between language and perception. This includes ideas ranging from embodiment and symbolic theories of mind. During his time conducting research, Dr. Benesh has conducted facial/gesture coding, eye tracking, and used computational linguistic methods. Most recently, he has studied the process of immersion and transportation into a story, focusing on what aspect found in stories influences different levels of immersion.
