Maurie Tomke holds a Master's of Coaching and Athletics Administration, as well as a Master's of Coaching and Exercise Science, both from Concordia University-Irinve, and a Bachalor's of Business Administration, with an emphasis in Sport Management, from Morningside College.
For the 2020-2021 school year, Tomke will be serving as the Interim Head Men's Wrestling Coach, along with his other duties serving the Sport Management Department.
Tomke has worked in many facets of the sport management world. His coaching career started in 2006 when he coached high school wrestling in Sioux City, Iowa. In that same year, Tomke was honored to work as the personal assistant to Pete Isais, Director of National Events for USA Wrestling, during the 2006 World Team Trials. During the summer of 2007, Tomke worked in the front office for the Sioux City Explorers Baseball team. During the 2007 winter season, in addition to coaching high school wrestling, Tomke was Co-Head coach of the East Middle School wrestling team and helped ran the Morningside Raiders Youth Wrestling Club. Tomke moved into the college coaching ranks in 2009 when he became the Assistant Wrestling coach at Bridgewater State University, in Bridgewater, Mass.. After one season Tomke headed back to Iowa to become the Head Assistant at Ellsworth Community College. Tomke was involved in all aspects of the program for six years, helping the Panthers finish 3rd in the nation is his final season of coaching in 2016. Tomke also has experience coaching college golf as Co-Head Coach for a season and high school soccer as an assistant for a season. During the eight years at ECC Tomke was able to get a wide variety of Sport Management experience from administrative roles, directing activities and teaching in the classroom. Tomke's most recent position was as the Coordinator of Athletics and Student Engagement at ECC.
Tomke resides in Forest City, Iowa, with his wife Jessica and their two children, daughter Charlotte and son Jacob.
