Mary Eggebraaten joined the English Department in August of 2008. Classes she has, or is teaching include English Composition I: Reading and Writing; English Composition II: Rhetoric and Argument; English: Exploring Literature; Communications: Editing and Humanities; Freshman Seminar.
She has taught also English as a Second Language for a private company, Home Language International, and has a great love of vocabulary and writing, both in fictional and non-fictional settings. In the writing field she has been employed, besides teaching, as a juvenile probation officer, writing investigatory reports, and recently wrote articles for Lutheran Hour Ministries THRED.
Her and her husband successfully owned and operated two businesses, one in California, and one in Iowa. With her teaching and business background, Professor Eggebraaten sees the importance of good writing skills in all fields of endeavor, especially in this technological age where more and more communication is in the form of writing.
She is a member of The Society of Professors in Christian Education (SPCE) and Christian English Language Educators (CELEA), as well as Phi Kappa Phi Honor Fraternity.
