Jamie Kelley is a 2005 graduate of Wartburg College where he obtained his Bachelor of Music Education degree with a theatre minor. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa where he obtained a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting in 2009. After graduating from Wartburg College, he taught 6-8 grade general music, choir and drama at Vernon Middle School in the Marion Independent School District in Marion, Iowa from 2005-07. There, he increased the student involvement in choral music from roughly 25% to almost 40% of the student body as well as create a musical theatre program.
During the 2009-10 school year, Kelley was employed at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City where he served as Co-Director of Choral Activities. There, he conducted the Freshmen Women’s Choir, Chorale, Pinnacle Show Choir, Genesis Show Choir, Premium Blend Jazz Ensemble, Motet Choir and co-directed the Crusader Men’s Choir and the weekly Liturgical Choir.
From 2010-18, Kelley was the Director of Choral Activities at Algona High School where he directed Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus, Chamber Singers, inTunE Jazz Choir and Premium Blend Jazz Choir while also teaching Music Theory I and II. While in Algona, he has also directed the Algona Cornbelt Men’s A cappella Chorus from 2012-15.
He is blessed to be married to his best friend, Heidi Kelley, who teaches Title 1 Reading at Seton Elementary in the Bishop Garrigan Schools and Bertha Godfrey Elementary in the Algona Public Schools. They have two children, Micah Dean Kelley, 9 years old, and Lillian Marie Kelley, 7 years old.
