Donnie P. West, Jr. is currently the Fire Chief for the Center Point Fire District, Ala. and serves as an adjunct professor for Columbia Southern University and Waldorf University. Chief West retired from the City of Hoover in 2006 and continues his fire service career with over 38 years in fire/EMS services. He is the past president for Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association and was elected in 2013 to serve as the first Vice President of the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association.
Chief West currently serves on numerous boards and committees throughout the state and country that includes the Alabama Energy & Residential Code Board, and his newly appointed position on the Jefferson County 911 Board. He serves as Alabama's LAST Coordinator for "Line of Duty Deaths" and also serves as Board Member for the Police Officer/Firefighter Survivor's Educational Assistance Program as well as the State Advocate for Everyone Goes Home.
Recently, Chief West's department was awarded the "2012 Excellence in Fire Service Based EMS Award" by the Congressional Fire Service Institute, Washington D.C.
