Deana Thomas began her nursing career as staff nurse on Medical/Telemetry/Oncology unit and worked at the bedside for 10 years in a variety of settings including Intensive Care, Endoscopy, Step Down Cardiac, home health and outpatient oncology. Her leadership roles include Organizational Development, Human Resources, Clinical Education, Patient Safety, Subacute Unit and Outpatient Endoscopy. She taught for two years as adjunct nursing faculty for Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, N.C..

Certifications include:
Just Culture (Culture of Safety), Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR), Lean Facilitator, Certified Health Coach (CHC), and Nursing Education.
