President Alsop announced today that Waldorf University will begin the Fall semester with face-to-face classes August 24.

“The health and safety of our students and employees are our first priority,” said President Alsop. “We are working on safety and contingency plans to ensure we provide a safe and welcoming environment this fall. While our campus operations may look a little different; we are preparing for the return of our Warriors in August.”

The university leadership will comply with all federal, state and county guidelines to ensure a safe environment is maintained for the Waldorf University community. Currently, there are three committees preparing the institution for the fall semester by preparing operational plans to follow proper guidelines for health testing, screening and tracing, cleaning and sanitizing, social distancing in the classroom, residence halls and dining services. University leadership are preparing three contingency plans for preparation for fall semester. Each option will provide a safe environment for students, faculty and staff strictly following the guidelines provided by community and state health officials.

“We housed over 100 students that couldn’t return home during the spring semester as the COVID-19 outbreak occurred,” Alsop explained. “I would like to thank the faculty, staff and state and community health officials that made it possible to provide a safe environment to our students that stayed on campus this past spring as we adjusted our operations. The spirit provided by our team and community showed how deeply we care of our Warriors. I couldn’t be prouder.”

Return to campus update: It has been highly recommended that we push back our student return to campus for move-out/check-out dates to the week of May 27-June 3. These dates may change again depending on the course of the virus. Move-out/check-out and storage procedures will be sent to student's Waldorf emails in early May regarding specific times and processes.

Students, guests and family members that are not currently living on campus do not have permission to be back on campus until May 27. We ask that students and familiese stay home until the "all clear" has been given to travel and return to Forest City and campus. Be assured that your personal belongings remain secured in your room and that the residence halls are locked. Students that disregard this order will be responsible for a violation of our Student Code of Conduct. We will provide some flexibility if families need to make arrangements to return after June 3 by appointment to retreive belongings.

We appreciate your cooperations and patience during this process.

Coronavirus Update 3/12/2020:

On behalf of Waldorf University, we would like to acknowledge the concern some may have regarding the recent developments regarding the COVID-19 virus circulation. Please rest assured we are diligently monitoring the situation via the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Iowa Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) guidelines, which state, for the general public, exposure is unlikely, and the immediate health risk of the COVID-19 virus is low. Under the guidelines provided after face-to-face meetings with health officials, we have decided to continue our current in-class course status. As of this time, we have no reason to believe we are at a heightened risk due to the current circumstances and want to ensure students continue to receive the very best in their education journey. We will continue to lean on the guidelines provided regarding the situation to ensure a safe environment is maintained for all of the Waldorf University community.

We are aware some other institutions have chosen a different path. We will do what we believe is best based on the information we have been supplied in regards to our immediate environment.

Waldorf University Director of Student Health Services, Mary Mathiasen, has been proactive in supplying information regarding the virus and preventative measures that should be taken, such as washing hands regularly. In the case individuals feel they are ill, they have been instructed to contact Nurse Mathiasen to assess their situation.

Once again, we are excited to have you back on campus. We know these times can make some feel uneasy, but rest assured we have everyone’s best interest in mind. We will continue to monitor the situation going forward and provide updates as necessary.
