The Nationally Accredited Sioux City Police Department is seeking dedicated individuals to perform law enforcement duties that preserve law and order and emphasize our desire to work in partnership with the community through community policing, outreach efforts, and establishing strong partnerships with the citizens we serve.
Starting wage for an entry level police officer effective July 1, 2020 is $53,400.12. New officers who have been a certified law enforcement officer in the State of Iowa for a minimum of two (2) years or possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university will be entitled to start at $64,084.76. Expected wage range after three (3) years of service will be $73,200.00 to $86,100.00. Comprehensive retirement and benefit package included. Residency requirements allow applicants to reside in Iowa, Nebraska or South Dakota within ten (10) miles of City limits.
Completion of at least sixty (60) hours of college credits from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of “C”, or
four (4) years of law enforcement experience as a certified full-time city, county, state or federal police officer, or
a high school diploma or equivalent and
four (4) years of active duty military experience in the U.S. Armed forces with an honorable discharge. Documentation of education and experience must be submitted with application including a military DD214 long if applicable.
