Position Duties / Responsibilities
Internships vary from one Outward Bound School to another, based on location and programmatic needs. The time of year that internships are offered varies from school to school as well. Interns may be offered support or instructional work after the internship. All staff and interns working for Outward Bound must be of 21 years of age or older. Preference will be given to applicants with wilderness medical training. Schools will often provide some or all of the following: on site accommodations, weekly stipend, gear discounts and individual mentoring. Additional training and skills development days will occur intermittently to support individual development.
Make sure to do your research. Check out the websites listed for more information on Internships offered at the different Outward Bound Schools. Determine what location(s) might best serve your professional development goals and aspirations. Look around the site (not just the Internship description) and find out as much as you can about the different locations you are looking at. Be able to articulate what it is you hope to gain from the experience and what you can realistically commit that school which you are seeking the experience with. See links to Outward Bound Schools offering internships for the next season for further details on applying. Then get ready for an amazing adventure!
