This is a paid internship opportunity in subsidiary rights. The International Rights Intern plays a crucial role in the following:
Rights Checks
- Researching and interpreting contracts to determine available rights for foreign sub-agents and publishers
- Corresponding with department manager and directors, as well as subagents and foreign publishers
Catalogue Blurbs
- Writing creative catalogue copy for Perseus’ foreign rights guide
- Writing pitch letters to promote interest in our books abroad
Book Orders
- Ordering review copies to be sent abroad to subagents and foreign publishers
- Logging all orders and processing order batches each week
- Processing and mailing foreign editions of our titles
- Sending book PDFs to subagents and uploading PDFs to Perseus’ FTP site
Clerical
- Scanning and filing foreign licenses
- Recordkeeping projects as necessary
- Tracking the status of incoming pre-publication materials
The Ideal Candidate:
- Junior and Senior undergraduates are welcome to apply
- Excited to learn about the processes of licensing and publishing translations
- Excellent at verbal and written communication (an emphasis on clarity!)
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and dependable
- Able to work independently and in a timely manner
The International Rights Intern reports directly to the Subsidiary Rights Coordinator.
Selected candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis.
