PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under specific direction of Library Director, performs library tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Develops and administers children and young adult programming. Compiles lists to give to library director of children and young adult material to order.
Assists patrons in a friendly and pleasant manner; checks library materials in and out to patrons using library software; instructs patrons on the use of computers and internet; processes inter-library loan materials; shelves books.
Familiarizes themselves with the duties of the director so they can assume those duties when the director is ill or on vacation.
Attends regional and state workshops, classes and meetings.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES
REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Requires the ability to see and hear within normal range with or without corrective devices. Requires manual dexterity involving use of fingers and hands to grasp small objects (paper, books, etc.) and use of arms, legs, feet and body torso to walk. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs.
Must be able to use office equipment including, computer, word processor, typewriter, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, etc.
Language Ability & Interpersonal Communication
Ability to interact with the public and staff in a calm and helpful manner.
Likelihood of personal injury as a result of environmental occupational hazards would be very slight due to the professional nature of work performed.
