Chemical Spills

• If toxic chemicals contact your skin, immediately flush the affected area with clear water for 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing.
• Call 9.911 immediately.
• Always err on the side of safety and if there is any possible danger, evacuate the area.

Fires

• Remain calm. Call 9.911 immediately.
• If the fire is small, you are not exposed to its fumes, and you have received proper training, attempt to put it out with a proper fire extinguisher.
• Never allow the fire to come between you and an exit.
• Evacuate your area if you are unable to put out the fire. Close doors and windows behind you to confine the fire. Proceed to the nearest exit.
• Do not break windows. Oxygen feeds fire. Only break windows as a last resort.
• Do not attempt to save possessions at the risk of personal injury.
• Do not return to the emergency area until instructed to do so by police or fire department officials.
• All chemical spills and fires, no matter how small, should be reported to 9.911.
