This is the beginning of the year event where returning Band and Choir students begin preparations for the new school year. Preparations include: the Opening Convocation Ceremony and Homecoming!
Music camp is required for all students who wish to participate in an ensemble.
Monday, Aug. 17, 9 a.m. through Friday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 24, 12 p.m. through Convocation
Plan for a highly engaged week of rehearsals mixed with a host of fun social events. Placements for ensembles and auditions for select groups will be held Friday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.. Auditions will cover the music studied during camp.
The combined vocal and instrumental ensembles will perform for the student body at Opening Convocation on Monday, Aug. 24. Register by Aug. 1.
All new and returning music students must check in with Student Life on Monday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Atrium.
Students will receive their housing contract and will be instructed to check in with each administrative office according to a check list provided. Once checked in, they will take their housing contract to their assigned hall and give it to their Area Coordinator or Resident Assistant, who will let them into their room and assign room keys.
Commuter music students are also required to check in from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday.
Lunch will be provided in the Dining Hall from 11 a.m.-noon.
Music Camp check-in begins at 12 p.m. for first-year students and 12:30 p.m. for returning students in the Odvin Hagen Music Center.
Orientation activities begin at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24 and run through Tuesday, Aug. 25. These are required activities that all first-year students must attend. Transfer students are encouraged to attend transfer student orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The camp fee of $100 will be applied to the student bill along with any additional fees associated with instrumental rental or otherwise.
