Distinguished Visiting Writer Series: Ruth Williams Poetry Reading
The event is a poetry reading by poet Ruth Williams, and it is part of the Distinguished Visiting Writers Series sponsored by the English Department and Creative Writing Program.
The reading is free and open to the public.
Ruth Williams is the author of a poetry collections, Flatlands (Black Lawrence Press, 2018) and two chapbooks Nursewifery (Jacar Press, Forthcoming 2020) and Conveyance (Dancing Girl Press, 2012). Her poetry has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, jubilat, Pleiades and Third Coast among others. She has also published creative nonfiction in DIAGRAM, Crab Orchard Review, and South Loop Review. Her scholarly work on women's writing and feminism appears in Tulsa Studies in Women’s Literature, The Journal of Popular Culture, Michigan Feminist Studies and College Literature. Ruth holds a B.A in English from Wheaton College, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University, and a Ph.D. in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Cincinnati. Currently, Ruth is an Associate Professor of English at William Jewell College. She also serves as an editor for Bear Review.
