Above all else, Diana considers herself a creator. Whether it be in the form of graphic design, videography, poetry or scholarly research, Diana enjoys infusing creativity into all aspects of her life.
Diana's love of writing and design emerged when she started producing her own newspaper, The Daily Diana, for her classmates in fourth grade. Since then, her desire to generate and disseminate ideas has been insatiable. She started anonymously publishing her short stories online in sixth grade, and continued to do so all throughout high school. This led her to pursue creative writing within the Honors College at Waldorf University. She subsequently added on a communication major (with emphases in digital media, graphic design, journalism, and public relations) and an English minor.
Diana stayed busy during her time at Waldorf. She served as station manager and marketing director of KZOW 91.9, editor of the Lobbyist newspaper, president of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, president of Rotaract service learning club, campus advertising lead for SWAT, Love Your Melon crew member, peer advocate, student senator, treasurer of the warrior writing club, Be Decent club member, an AAC tutor in four classes, library student worker, Honors and English department student aide, member of the Waldorf Wind Symphony and drumline, Warrior Women in Leadership scholar, and member of the Honors College. She interned for Mayo Clinic's Education Innovation team for two summers and throughout her senior year.
Though she wasn't initially planning on pursuing graduate education, Waldorf University's Honors college prepared her well for the transition. The program's rigor and development of her critical thinking skills made the educational jump far easier to manage. Diana is currently pursuing her M.A. in Communication Studies at the University of South Dakota while serving as the instructor of record for two sections of SPCM 101: Fundamentals of Speech Communication. For fun, she acts as a Campus Diaries correspondent for her hometown's TV station. She still regularly creates and publishes her writing.
