Waldorf University to host 2018 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Aileen Sullivan

Aileen-Sullivan.jpgFOREST CITY, IOWA, Nov. 1, 2018 – Waldorf University will host a speaking event for the 2018 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Aileen Sullivan, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Salveson Ballroom located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, Iowa. Area teachers and administrators, pre-service teachers, and others who are interested are invited to this inspiring session. High school students interested in a career in education are especially encouraged to attend. 

Aileen Sullivan, 2018 Iowa Teacher of the Year, is a high school chemistry teacher in Ames. During her 22 years at Ames High, she has served as a model and mentor teacher, the head of the science department, and been an assistant coach for the girls track team among other roles. She has also welcomed many pre-service teacher interns and student teachers into her classroom. “Don’t be a fault finder, be a star finder” is a guiding mantra she uses each day to add a positive perspective to her work. Aileen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Chemistry Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Iowa State University.
