Description

(Prerequisite: PSY 1010 General Psychology, or equivalent)

Examines the social psychological theories of attitudes and attitude change. The class is divided into two parts. The first part covers attitudes-their measurement, origins, content, structure and function. The second part covers theories of persuasion and persuasion techniques.

Objectives

  1. Understand and explain relevant key terminology related to attitude and attitude change.
  2. Understand the psychological aspects of a number of attitude behavior problems.
  3. Think critically about the roles of attitude behaviors in your life and the lives of others.
  4. Explain the role of theory in attitude, attitude change and at titude resilience.
  5. Describe the sources of attitude change and shaping and their impact on cognition.
  6. Describe the goals of attitude research in quality of life.
