Description

This course explores the role of virtual teams in today’s global environment. Special emphasis placed on identifying pitfalls that inhibit the effectiveness of virtual teams, as well as strategies for leading from a distance and creating an environment for cross-cultural collaboration.

Objectives

  1. Define a virtual team and highlight the variety of environments virtual teams operate in (such as satellite offices, virtual teams within virtual organizations, virtual teams within traditional organizations, etc.)
  2. Discuss strategies for individuals and teams to function effectively in a virtual environment.
  3. Discuss appropriate communication and file-sharing resources and best practices.
  4. Demonstrate the importance of trust within virtual teams and between virtual and traditional teams.
  5. Describe appropriate success measures and feedback processes for individuals and teams.
  6. Support professional development for virtual team members.
