International Student Programs
The number of International Students attending Waldorf has been increasing year by year. This provides a diversity of languages and culture that may not be experienced at some other colleges in the Midwest. Waldorf College tries to encourage sharing of these cultures with the campus community and the surrounding area.
Global/Culture Club
A Global/Cultural Club provides opportunities for international programs and activities throughout the year. It also provides fellowship for international students who are separated from their families and cultures. Yearly activities include:
- Global Fest - (Fall Semester) Students display artifacts, crafts, clothing and food-tasting from their respective countries.
- Culture Show - (Spring Semester) Students perform songs, dances, poetry, skits, etc. that portray their ethnic cultures. A fashion show of national costumes is usually part of the show. The community, as well as the student body, fills the theatre to capacity for this highlight of the year.
- Social Activities - Examples include parties with host families, movie nights, YMCA events, float building for Homecoming, and field trips.
Host Family Program
The College seeks to secure a host family for each student who desires and makes application for one. The student does not live with the host family but connects socially with the family throughout the year for college events and family occasions. This family may become the student's 'family away from home'.
International Orientation
An International Orientation at the beginning of the Fall semester is carried out to prepare the new international students for life in America, life at Waldorf College, and life in the classroom. An all-day Orientation is held at the beginning of the January semester.
