| Reading
Coaches work one-on-one with middle school students who struggle
in reading. The student chooses a book of his/her choice to
read to the volunteer while the Coach assists with vocabulary
and comprehension strategies. The Reading Coaches program
is active in 6 area school districts. In 2006-07, 80% of students
in the program for the academic year had improved their reading
level scores by 0.5 grade level or more. |
