At Waldorf, we recognize the importance of a quality education and are dedicated to helping you find a way to achieve your higher education goals.

Several scholarships are awarded annually such as:

Applying does not guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded. Scholarships have varying deadlines and application requirements.

Actual award criteria are established annually based on the availability of scholarship funds.

We also encourage you to submit a Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) to determine additional resources that may be available to help fund your education.

Waldorf College Grants are awarded to students on a need and "no-need" basis. In addition, Waldorf annually funds numerous Special Ability Awards.

Waldorf Scholarships

Waldorf Merit Scholarships for incoming freshmen are awarded based on high school GPA and composite ACT score. The following awards are available:

  • Regents Scholarship, $15,000
  • Presidential Scholarship, $10,000
  • Excellence Scholarship, $6,000
  • Transformational Scholarship, $5,000
  • Promise Award, $3,000
  • Belief Award, $1,000

Merit scholarships are also available for transfer students. They are based on a student's cumulative GPA from their previous colleges and/or universities at the time of acceptance:

  • Warrior Scholarship, $6,000 (3.5 Cumulative GPA and higher)
  • Torch Scholarship, $5,000 (3.0-3.49 CGPA)
  • Truth Award, $3,000 (2.5-2.99 CGPA)
  • Light Award, $1,000 (2.49 CGPA and below)

Special Ability Awards

Special Ability Awards in athletics, communication, music and drama are available for students demonstrating high achievement and potential in any of these areas.

Auditions, high school records, portfolios, films and recommendations are used to select the recipients. 

Outside Scholarship Opportunities

Look Twice, Save a Life Scholarship - $1,000 is awarded to any student who is currently attending or planning to attend college or some form of higher education. The scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis for the Spring semester. The deadline to apply is December, 1st. View link to find out more about requirements and how to apply.

Scholarships for Current Students

In past years, Waldorf has provided over $4.1 million in institutional financial aid.

Education Partners in Covenant (EPIC)

EPIC is a cooperative venture between congregations of the three Iowa ELCA synods. Congregations elect to support students with grants of $100 to $500 per student and colleges match the grants. Students must be confirmed members of the congregation and the congregation must be enrolled in the program and have their level of participation determined by March 1 prior to the student's year of attendance.

Dollars for Scholars Matching Funds

Awarded to students who receive local chapter scholarships. The college must be notified by August 15 prior to the student's period of enrollment in order to receive the matching funds. Maximum match is $200.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

Student Scholarship Criteria

The Student Must:

  • Have submitted a completed scholarship application. The application also contains a section for advisor verification from their Community College of the State Phi Theta Kappa office.
  • Are members in good standing of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society or were members in good standing at the time of their enrollment in the Community College.
  • Have maintained or did maintain a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.3 or better.
  • Do not currently have a Bachelor’s degree.

The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship can be renewed a second year for an additional $2,000 for those awardees who have successfully completed 30 hours of credit with 3.0 or higher grade point average.
