The Principal Financial Group will select high caliber students to work as interns in various IT roles during the summer of 2011. This program will provide interns experience working with technology in a FORTUNE 500 company who has been named to the Computerworld 100 Best Places to Work in IT for the past 8 years! As part of the Valued Intern at The Principal (VIP) program you will be able to meet other interns, compete for scholarships, plan social activities and even create a video about your experience!

Our IT internship program focuses on several areas of IT including application development and infrastructure technologies. Those interested in any of the areas below should apply. Placement is based upon your interests, skill set and business need.

IT Roles Available
*Programming - Involved in the development and/or support of business applications. Will work on most phases of application programming such as analysis, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, documentation and maintenance.

*Business Analyst - Acts as a liaison between business partners and technical areas. Responsible for the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business and technical needs on business projects.

*Quality Assurance - Participate in testing of software projects to ensure that software meets end-user requirements, design specifications and development standards prior to release.

*Project Management - Assist with the development and maintenance of project shell and basic work breakdown structures, tracking of project resource time versus assigned tasks, budget and other project related expenses. Establishing and maintain issue and change control databases, meeting action items and other project processes.

*Database Administration - Responsible for database security, installation and performance problems. Other duties include participation in data and physical design reviews, the creation, modification, or deletion of database structures, overall database and query performance tuning or monitoring, support of application upgrades and restores across environments and management of space or storage allocation.

*Network Administration and Information Security - Management of voice, telecommuncations, remote access, Internet, firewalls and local area and wide area network infrastructure. Network security and identity management.

Applicants must be in the process of completing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Exposure to the field of IT through a course, club or other related activity is required. Applicants must have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA and a Major GPA over 3.0. The Principal looks for interns who will take full advantage of the learning and networking opportunities available through this program.
