Above + Beyond Cancer is a Des Moines, IA based non-profit organization that specializes in organizing transformational adventures for cancer survivors. Above + Beyond Cancer was devised in 2011 by Dr. Richard Deming, and Charlie Wittmack. Dr. Deming, is the head of the Mercy Cancer Center in Des Moines. In 2011, Dr. Deming led a group of cancer survivors to the base camp of Mount Everest, planting the seeds for Above + Beyond Cancer. Charlie Wittmack, a lawyer with the Davis Brown Law Firm in Des Moines was the first Iowan to summit Mount Everest. In addition, he is the only human being to complete the "World Triathlon," named by the BBC as the toughest human endurance challenge, ever. Above + Beyond Cancer is driven to reduce the global burden of cancer through inspiration and advocacy.
We are currently seeking 2 enthusiastic candidates to help us with our 2012 summer programs lasting from 6/4/12 - 8/3/12. This 8 week program will consist of organizing and managing Above + Beyond Cancer's participation in the annual cycling event, "Race Across America," which takes place in June.
Location: This position will be based out of Mason City/Clear Lake, IA OR Des Moines, IA - depending on what works best for the Intern.
