Working with the editors of PEN.org and PEN’s Executive Assistant, the Social Media Intern will help create and maintain a unified and unique voice for PEN across a variety of social media platforms. The successful candidate will be familiar with the online literary and advocacy communities, and its magazines, blogs, and gathering places. The Intern will help build PEN’s online presence in these communities by promoting PEN’s mission and programming, engaging with current fans and Members, and reaching out to new audiences.
The Social Media Intern will have the opportunity to learn about the breadth of PEN’s literary programs and events, and gain experience in digital publishing. Candidates should have an interest in popular and emerging forms of social networking applications, and be comfortable with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and WordPress. A commitment of 15 hours per week during usual business hours is required. This is an unpaid position, though a travel stipend is available.
