Survey of applications of mathematics to real-world problems. Topics are from graph theory, management science, political science, statistics, and computer science. This course is for those who have a sufficient background in algebra and trigonometry. Topics include: functions, continuity and limits, derivatives of algebraic and trigonometric functions, applications of derivatives, and the definite integral and applications. (Prerequisite: four years of high school mathematics or MTH 103)
Extension of concepts of limit, derivative, and integral to include log and exponential functions with applications. Techniques of integration, improper integrals, “L’Hospital’s” rule, infinite series, numerical integration, and polar forms. (Prerequisite: MTH 203)
