Dr. Bartelt grew up on small, central Iowa family farm, has established and maintained a restored tall-grass prairie on part of this farm and is married with two grown children.

Hobbies: hiking, backpacking, biking, hunting (any excuse to do any of these in the Rocky Mountain West is icing on the cake!), controlled prairie burns
