Waldorf College professors Dr. Robert E. AuFrance and Dr. David S. Sollish were featured at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival this January. The festival is the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the world.
AuFrance’s workshop, “Playwriting a Better Character: Exercises in Creating Great Parts,” encouraged beginning playwrights to create, explore, and develop dynamic characters through writing exercises, role playing games, and group discussions. AuFrance is a nominated playwright and has directed several of his plays at Waldorf College.
Sollish hosted a workshop based on a practice of world-renowned British director Trevor Nunn. “Speaking Your Way to Musical Success: The Trevor Nunn Approach to Acting a Song,” allowed participants to explore the text of one of their chosen audition songs through first acting out the text and then singing.
