On Wednesday, Dec. 11, six Waldorf students will present what they have learned in the Teacher Preparation Program to the Waldorf education department and community.

Directed by Waldorf’s Adjunct Instructor of Music Sarah Luebke, nine area students from Waldorf College, North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City High School, and Garner-Hayfield Ventura High School recently traveled to Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., to compete at the Central Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition.

Waldorf College will welcome the holiday season at Christmas with Waldorf, an annual weekend of concert performances, at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. The concert theme for 2013 is Angels Sing with Joy.

Waldorf College’s Creative Writing Department and the Luise V. Hanson Library are hosting a reading by Waldorf faculty member and author Tim Bascom on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Library Lounge.

Waldorf’s Community Artist Series welcomes organist Michael Stefanek to Forest City on Sunday, Nov. 24 for a 7:30 p.m. concert at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The newest exhibit in the Waldorf College Art Gallery takes a close look at some of rural America’s forgotten towns. Matthew Peake, a Waldorf College alumnus and former Buffalo Center resident, set out to capture ghost towns of the Midwest in his show “The Social and Economic Decline of the Rural United States.”

Waldorf College’s Amnesty International student group will host guest speaker Dr. Stephen Holmes on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Small Pit classroom.
