Forest City, Iowa – In honor of Valentine’s Day, the Waldorf College Theatre Department will host the ‘Sweetheart Banquet,’ on Saturday, February 11. This annual event combines a delicious banquet with a preview performance of the College’s spring musical, which this year is Stephen Schwartz’ “Pippin.”
The Sweetheart Banquet is a fundraiser for the theatre program at Waldorf College. In addition to ticket sales, a valentine’s cake will be raffled off at the event.
“A lot of people enjoy our dinner theatre,” said Dr. Bob AuFrance, associate professor of theatre at Waldorf College and co-director of Pippin. “Ordinarily, it’s a hassle for people to go out to eat and then get back in time for the show. We’re offering great food and entertainment together, and at a reasonable price.”
Dinner will be served 6 to 7:15 p.m., followed by “Pippin” at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Theatre. The cost is $20 per person.
