Forest City, Iowa – Waldorf College Associate Professor of Music Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor has been invited to join the roster of Steinway Artists, an honor she will share with some of the world’s most acclaimed pianists.
As a Steinway Artist, Dr. Taylor will perform only on Steinway & Sons pianos during concert performances. This honor places her name in a distinguished league of important pianists and musicians, and may lead to more performance invitations. “I’m very excited about this,” said Dr. Taylor. “This kind of honor also brings prestige to Waldorf College.”
The Steinway Artist roster includes some of the most acclaimed concert, jazz and pop pianists from throughout the world, such as Daniel Barenboim, Harry Connick, Jr., Billy Joel, Evgeny Kissin, Diana Krall and Lang Lang.
In addition to the Steinway Artist honor, Dr. Taylor was awarded a $1,000 Grant-in-Aid from the Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Music Fraternity last month. The award is granted to a musician for a specific purpose essential to completion of an exceptional musical project or undertaking well beyond the planning stage.
“Mu Phi Epsilon has been very good to me, “ said Dr. Taylor, who has received several grants from the fraternity to support the costs associated with her research. Dr. Taylor will use this grant for a recording project that she is working on with flutist Jonathan Borja. “I’m very thankful for their generous support,” Dr. Taylor said.
