A Ventura (Iowa) High student is the winner of an inaugural high school writing contest sponsored by the Waldorf College literary journal “Crusader.” Angel Heller, a sophomore at Ventura High School, will have her poem “Hold Me” published in this year’s edition of the journal, which will be available in April from the Waldorf English Department.


A high school senior from Humboldt, Iowa, won a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to attend Waldorf College, and five other students were awarded four-year $2,000 scholarships as part of Scholarship Day on Feb. 12 at the school.


More volunteers are needed to help package food at a Wednesday, March 2 event sponsored by Waldorf College and Immanuel Lutheran Church. This is the second year the college and Forest City church have teamed up to help the food-aid organization, Kids Against Hunger.


Two Waldorf College seniors, accompanied by two history professors, will return for the second year to present history papers alongside peers and professionals at a prestigious conference March 3-5 in Omaha, Neb.


Novelist Dean Bakopoulos, a professor of creative writing at Iowa State University, will visit Waldorf College on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 21-22 to read from his first novel and to work with students.


Waldorf College, a four-year liberal arts school, will host an open house on Saturday, Feb. 19 to give prospective students and their parents a chance to visit the campus and learn what the college has to offer.


Waldorf College and Immanuel Lutheran Church have started raising money for a food-packaging event set for March in partnership with the food-aid organization Kids Against Hunger.
