Kristi Leonard was presented the 2014 Outstanding Faculty Award by Dr. Scott Searcy

Forest City, Iowa – In recognition of her commitment to teaching and her dedication to Waldorf’s mission, the Waldorf College Board of Trustees named Dr. Kristi Leonard, Associate Professor and Director of Wellness, as the Trustees’ Outstanding Faculty Member for 2014. The award was announced at the annual Employee Recognition event on April 29 in the Atrium at Waldorf College.
Leonard has served many important leadership roles on campus and has successfully worked to expand the Wellness department to serve the needs of students.  Some of the committees and taskforces she has served on include Students of Concern, Retention Taskforce, and the college’s governing President’s Council. She has also recently been re-elected to her third term as faculty chair.
“She is clearly dedicated to pursuing professional development,” Dr. Scott Searcy, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college, said at the award ceremony. “Kristi was selected due to her excellence in teaching, commitment to students, outstanding leadership, dedicated service, and support of the overall mission of Waldorf College.”
Leonard received her doctorate in Community Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa while serving as a full time faculty member. She joined Waldorf in the fall of 2005, immediately assuming the role of department chair in the Wellness department.
