8th annual 3K3 Walk-Run-Wag to be held at Waldorf College

Waldorf College
FOREST CITY, IOWA| Waldorf College will host the 8th annual 3K3 Walk-Run-Wag event Thursday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. starting at the Hanson Fieldhouse Lobby.
Kristi Leonard, Kristi Osheim, and Kristi Carlson founded the event as a Waldorf service tradition eight years ago when all three women were Waldorf College staff. “We thought of a traditional 5K run, but because we share the same name:
K-R-I-S-T-I, we decided to work around the 3K idea.” Kristi Leonard said. “We were being silly and having some fun with it, but the idea stuck and here we are, eight years later, continuing the project.”
All proceeds from the Walk-Run-Wag will go to the local Relay for Life chapter of the American Cancer Society. This year’s efforts will focus on skin cancer. Kathy Leonard, Leonard’s mother, has recently been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and is under going treatment. Lisa Brozik, Osheim’s daughter who has also battled with basal cell carcinoma this past year, was selected as the honorary starter of the event. “Every one of us is affected by cancer in one way or another,” Kristi Osheim said. “We put emphasis on helping to fight this disease.”
The 3K3 route includes three loops, each approximately 3K in length.  A participant can choose to walk, run, or wag the dog for one, two or all three loops (9K=5.58 miles).
Sign in begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Hanson Fieldhouse Lobby. Registration for the race can be completed HERE, or by stopping by the Athletic Office on the 2nd floor of Hanson Fieldhouse on campus. Participants who register by April 16 will receive a free 3K3 t-shirt. Registration can be completed up until the start of the event.
