Dr. Scott Searcy has been a member of the Waldorf College faculty since 2000. Prior to joining the faculty, he was employed in various teaching roles at a community college as well as large and small state institutions. Included in his 22 years of higher education experience, are 13 years as department chairman, three years as division chair and four years as associate dean at Waldorf College. He has served professionally on a state and regional level as a member of the committee responsible for defining standard for math secondary education in Iowa and president of IMATYC. Currently Dr. Searcy serves as the Treasurer for the Iowa Section of the Mathematical Association of America. He was the key player in the design and implementation of Waldorf's secondary education licensure in mathematics. He has presented at professional papers at numerous regional conferences as well as a contributed paper at Mathfest on his inter-disciplinary work with Dr. Paul Bartlet of the Waldorf biology department.
