Donnie P. West, Jr., M.S.
Adjunct Professor

Professor West's academic achievements include a Paramedic degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, associate's degree in Fire Science from Jefferson State Community College, a bachelor's degree in Public Safety Administration from Athens State University, a master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering from Columbia Southern University and is currently working on his second master's degree in Executive Leadership with Grand Canyon University.

Donnie P. West, Jr. is currently the Fire Chief for the Center Point Fire District, Alabama and serves as an adjunct professor for Columbia Southern University and Waldorf College. Chief West retired from the City of Hoover in 2006 and continues his fire service career with over 38 years in fire/EMS services. He is the past president for Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association and was elected in 2013 to serve as the first Vice President of the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association.

Chief West currently serves on numerous boards and committees throughout the state and country that includes the Alabama Energy & Residential Code Board, and his newly appointed position on the Jefferson County 911 Board. He serves as Alabama's LAST Coordinator for "Line of Duty Deaths" and also serves as Board Member for the Police Officer/Firefighter Survivor's Educational Assistance Program as well as the State Advocate for Everyone Goes Home.

Recently, Chief West's department was awarded the "2012 Excellence in Fire Service Based EMS Award" by the Congressional Fire Service Institute, Washington D.C.
