Robert Aufrace
Director of Theatre
Robert AuFrance earned his bachelor of arts in Theatre/Speech education and History education (with certification in secondary education) from The University of Findlay, Findlay, OH, his master’s degree in Theatre history and criticism from Kent State University, and completed his Ph.D. in theatre history, criticism, and playwriting at The University of Missouri at Columbia.
A scholar, director, performer and playwright, Professor AuFrance has earned scholarly teaching awards (The Alexander Award for Theatre Education and The Donald K. Anderson Award for Outstanding Teaching), been rewarded for his playwriting efforts (The Rhynsburger Award for Playwriting, The G.G. Bruer Award for Creative Writing, and as an ACTF regional playwriting award winner), and has been recognized as an experienced adjudicator in theatre and speech, while also serving as an expert in hand-to-hand stage combat. In addition, he is the founder of the Albion College Playwriting Circle and the St. Genesius Players’ Summer Stock.
Professor AuFrance joined the Waldorf College Faculty in 2000 after serving as the Head of Theatre for Paulding Exempted Village Schools, a theatre/speech lecturer for The University of Findlay’s Penal Education Program, and as a visiting lecturer at Albion College, Albion, MI.
