Waldorf Sundays
The Waldorf Sunday Program is a valuable way of connecting with our association congregations. A pastor commented, “Waldorf Sundays remind our congregation that our relationship with Waldorf is special. It is different from our support of other Lutheran colleges in that we are a part of an association of churches that have a say in the life of the college.”
We ask that each association congregation hold a Waldorf Sunday sometime between October 1 and April 30. Some congregations may decide to continue with the Sunday you have used for years.
During your Waldorf Sunday,
- We request that the congregation’s pastor be in attendance. If your congregation does not have a permanent pastor, we ask that either an interim pastor or a lay leader in the congregation lead the service.
- Invite a representative from the college to come and bring a greeting.
- Include Waldorf, its students, faculty, staff and Board of Regents in your prayers.
- Take a special offering to support the work at Waldorf.
If you wish to have a representative from the college come to your worship service, please contact Sandy Hugelen in Development. Tell us which Sunday you have selected as your Waldorf Sunday, and which of the following representatives would you like to have visit your congregation:
a. Waldorf student who could share about their Waldorf experience and participate in the service by reading the lesson, doing a children’s sermon, etc.
b. Lutheran Leader or International student – most of these individuals have much to share about their country and their faith.
c. Faculty or staff member.
Requests for Waldorf representatives will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Only so many people can go out on one Sunday. Please allow a minimum 4-week notice to reserve someone but you will have a better chance to get someone if you plan a few months ahead.
