A big change for you
Sending
your child off to college can be a little stressful. Chances are, your child
evaluates prospective colleges differently than you do. As a parent, you're
naturally more concerned with the big picture of college life, such as academic
standards and results, and less concerned with things like fraternity or
sorority life. Above all, you want to know that sending your son or daughter
to Waldorf is a sound investment in their future. We hope this page will
answer most of your questions. But just in case it doesn't, please feel
free to call us. There is nothing we'd enjoy talking about more
than your child's future!
What's the big difference at Waldorf?
At Waldorf your child will get a personal education. They'll be part of a lively learning environment where they can experience, discover, and develop what they love to do. We're a close-knit college where the student-to-faculty ratio is just 15:1. So your child will get the attention - and the encouragement - they deserve. Life at Waldorf is almost a perfect combination. Small enough that they'll know almost everyone, but big enough so there's always something to do.
Is Waldorf affordable?
Yes. Waldorf offers a reasonably priced education that delivers tremendous value. In addition, we offer an array of financial aid assistance through federal and state programs and merit scholarships. More than 95% of our students receive some form of financial aid.
What are the living quarters like at Waldorf?
Waldorf provides comfortable living arrangements for students in up-to-date residence halls. Our distinctive residence hall program enhances each student's residential living experience. The program will enable your child to help develop agreements governing life within their floors, to undertake social projects on campus or in our community, to sponsor social activities, and to develop close relationships with faculty or staff members who are Floor Associates. Your child will benefit by living in this type of community, learn invaluable lessons in responsibility, and become more confident and independent.
Will my child feel safe on campus?
Absolutely. Waldorf's campus provides a safe, friendly place where everybody knows everyone. In addition, we are located in the middle of Forest City, Iowa (population 5,000), a lovely, safe town where your child will feel secure. Everything is close by - grocery stores, restaurants, a movie theater, and local industries.
What about extracurricular activities?
Students find it easy to get involved at Waldorf. Our small size guarantees
students leadership opportunities as early as their freshman year.
Three out of four Waldorf students join student-run clubs, organizations,
or activities. In addition, we offer outstanding athletics and
performing arts programs and a campus on which nationally known
bands and performers appear.
Will my child grow spiritually at Waldorf?
Everyone is comfortable here. Waldorf aspires to be a community in which individuals live in support and respect of one another. As a Lutheran college, we incorporate compassion and understanding into our everyday lives. This is a place where your son or daughter can explore, affirm, and grow in his or her faith. Christian values - compassion and respect for each individual as a child of God - are emphasized.
How well does Waldorf prepare students for success in the real world?
A degree from Waldorf is highly regarded, we are a remarkable 98% graduate placement record. You'll find our more than 10,000 alumni in all waldorf of like, all over the world, such as the founder of Winnebago Industries, and associate editor at TIME Magazine, and a neurologist at the University of Wisconsin, to name a few. They are resourceful, well-rounded people making positive contributions to their communities.
What if I have other questions?
