Professor Farndale is an Associate Professor of Physics and Mathematics. He received his BA (1967) and MA (1981) in mathematics from Oxford University, England.
He has studied physics and math courses at Iowa State University during summer sessions and during a sabbatical semester in the fall of 1995.
He teaches General Education Mathematics (Math 101) and both algebra-based and calculus-based introductory college physics. He has started using a course management system in algebra-based physics called WileyPLUS in conjunction with the textbook Physics by Cutnell and Johnson.
He has supervised student projects in holography and electronics and directed an independent study in astronomy. In recent years he has studied astronomy at Iowa State University during Summer School.
